When She Took A Dunk
(Originally written 10-06-2018)
Her face was undoubtedly soft. Her skin glowed like that of a goddess. Her hair rose and fell in perfect waves, inviting others to feel their bounce and swim in them. Slender in all the right places, voluminous everywhere else. She’s perfect. She’s smoldering. And HER EYES. I die every time I look at them. I’ve seen dainty sapphires and twinkling emeralds here and there, but nothing compares to her opulent and vibrant green! She stands out and makes all else around her fade. That’s true beauty. Everyone wants that.
I know it’s real. I remember her catch a tear roll down her cheeks. If it was makeup, the tears would have cleared out the beauty, but alas it’s still there. She’s a natural. Photogenic, serene, confident, hot. She must be everyone’s muse, My Beauty.
But one day, I saw something strange. She was sitting at a picnic table on a perfectly sunny day, looking beautiful as ever. Everything about her was glowing. Then, in the distance I saw some wild creature running towards her. The creature was too far to make out, but I reckon it looked evil and devious! My Beauty started to grow worried, for I saw her luscious, full eyebrows furrow together. The creature was approaching fast. A short, round-faced oaf carrying a bucket of water.
I watched with astonishment what happened next! The brute pounced in front of My Beauty, and My Beauty raised her lovely short hands in an attempt to stop the attack. But the creature was ruthless. The creature dumped the pail of clear water straight onto My Beauty’s head.
I had to keep my distance from the picnic table, for I didn’t want the creature to pounce on me too. What a monster it was! The water it poured on My Beauty turned her into a creature too. Her skin turned blisterful like the creature’s, her nose became more pudgy like that of the creature’s, and with a few eye rubs, My Beauty’s green eyes seemed to pop off like some sort of unnatural mask.
My eyes welled up. This ugly, raw, and hideous creature spoiled My Beauty! She turned My Beauty into one of her own kind - unpleasing and slightly unsettlingly plain. And now she sits at the picnic table, sad that her beauty was washed away by that shapeshift potion witch! Her hair, now stiff straight from the pail’s shapeshift potion, sagged and dripped as my once-beauty weeped. She soon saw me staring, and my gaze almost caught hers. I gasped - I’d be damned if I locked eyes with her in that infectious, sinister, diseased state! I ran away from her as fast as I could.
The next day got even stranger. I passed by the picnic table, and there she was! My BEAUTY! Her curls back in place, her skin flawless, her lips perfectly crisp and red. And those EYES. So special! She WAS a goddess. She was able to conquer the creature’s spell. There was no time to waste - I must marry her. I ran to her and gave her a kiss. My BEAUTY! I love her and her beauty never fades, unless she takes a dunk. Her experience with the plain, brutish creature must have left her under a spell. Getting water poured turns her into the creature I once ran away from. But I love My Beauty so much, I’ll carry an umbrella for her wherever we go to protect her. That’s true beauty. Everyone wants that.
A story of a man blinded by beauty and left delusional. Fun read :)
